Why DearKFriend?
I was born in Seoul and spent many years living abroad. Traveling and living as a foreigner, I experienced firsthand just how difficult it is to get help from locals when there are language and cultural barriers. There were so many moments when I felt completely lost, unable to find even the simplest piece of information. When I came back to Korea, I was surprised by how many more foreigners there were compared to before. After settling in Pohang, I kept meeting international students, expats, and tourists — and I realized they were all going through the exact same struggles I once had. Pohang is a wonderful place to live. There's the sea, the mountains, and Busan and Gyeongju just nearby. So together with friends from Busan and Gyeongju, I built this site — to make it easy for foreigners visiting Korea to ask Koreans directly, in their own language, and get real, local answers. You can ask in any language. When Koreans answer in Korean, it gets automatically translated into English, Chinese, and Japanese. Please feel free to answer the questions from foreign visitors. I hope you discover and enjoy the real Korea. Welcome to Korea!
Busan, Korea — Asia's hottest travel destination in 2026!
Reading that sentence about my hometown fills me with pride, yet I can't help but wonder — do the many foreign visitors who come to Busan ever truly see its soul?
Most follow the familiar script: Haeundae, Gwangalli, Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Market, Haedong Yonggungsa. But Busan holds so many hidden gems. People admire the Gwangandaegyo night view, not knowing that climbing Hwangnyeongsan reveals a panorama stretching from Haeundae to Bukhang. And the most beautiful view of Haeundae? Not from the beach itself, but from Dalmaji Hill.
They say travelers who visit Busan come down with "Busan Sickness" — an incurable longing to return. I want to share what only a true Busanite knows, so that sickness runs even deeper.
Busanites know all the best things, but have had no way to share them with the world — until now. DearKFriend is that place.
May this small space become a compass for your Busan journey. My wish is simple: may there be visitors who have never been to Busan, but never anyone who has only been once.
Welcome to DearKFriend!
